Summer Reading

When I first started reading "In Defense of Food", I thought that it would be terribly boring and repetitive.  I'm not going to lie, in the beginning, it was.  I knew I had to read it, so I decided to make the best out of it and relate it to something I liked.  I tried to pay attention to what the author was saying and think about how it would effect my health in relation to athletics.  I truly have started making an effort to eat better.  I've thrown out some of the processed food and started eating more fruit.  I feel better throughout the day and have more energy.  I feel crazy saying this, but I kind of enjoyed the book, or at least what I took away from it.

  1. Wow, Julia, it's exciting to have something you read contribute to concrete change in your life, even if it's not the most compelling read. I am glad you were able to get something out of the book, and you can be proud that you used a great strategy to get through a difficult book - making connections to your life and the things that matter to you. I really enjoyed reading your basketball post, too - that is an intense schedule! For all posts, do make sure you are writing two full paragraphs.

  2. I love the idea of trying to connect it to something I like to do. I wish I had thought of this idea when I had to read this one. I see how it could've made it a whole lot easier to get through.
