Reading Response

I really enjoyed reading Split this week. It was an exciting section of the book, when Jace and Christian return to their home in attempts to rescue their abused mother. They both discover some things about their past. After much persuasion, their mother denies their offer, and they return home. Alone.
I noticed how much effort Swati Avasthi, the author of Split, puts into conveying a strong voice quality into his writing. He makes me feel like I'm inside Jace's mind, experiencing the struggles in his life. He uses descriptive words and vivid detail in order to make the scenes as realistic as possible. I love his writing and  respect it completely.

  1. That sounds like a good book, when y'all were presenting, I actually thought about reading that book. So I have a question, how do Christian and Jace leave and not bring their mother with them with an abusive father? Why do they not bring their mom with them?

  2. Julia, this book sounds really interesting. For my next free read I may read it! I wonder why the mother wouldn't want to flee from her abusive father and live with her kids?

  3. To both comments, when Jace left, he tried to bring his mom with him, but she refused. The hard thing to understand is that even though their father did some horrible things, he is part of their family and Jace's mom still loves him. So, I think that's why she stayed.
